Professional Bio

Alexandria J. Ashdown is a retired Managing Director of Morgan Stanley with a career spanning 33 years including leadership positions in institutional equities, capital markets, firm management and private wealth management.

Most recently she was the regional manager for Morgan Stanley Private Wealth Management based in San Francisco responsible for one of the largest regions in wealth management for the firm.

Prior to returning to the United States in 2006, Ali was the Chief Operating Officer for Morgan Stanley Asia based in Hong Kong overseeing operations, risk management, government relations, corporate communications and several of the firms’ joint venture relationships.

She contributed to all areas of strategic expansion in the region where Morgan Stanley’s presence expanded significantly during the 10-year period she was in Asia. Prior to her posting in Hong Kong, Ali worked in London and previously in New York in capital markets, institutional equity and divisional management.

Presently she is member of the board of trustees for the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco and is a trustee for the San Francisco Girls’ School.

She holds a BA in economics from George Washington University in Washington, DC. In 2008 and 2009, she was named as one of the Bay Area’s Most Influential Women in Business by the San Francisco Business Times.
