James Maxwell joined Main Management full-time in June 2022 and serves as Director of Research, helping lead the firm's research effort in support of the Investment Committee. He oversees the market and economic data that informs Main's strategy allocations, develops investment ideas grounded in historical data analysis for the Committee, and contributes to the firm's broader research and strategic planning. He also leads Main's Custom Model Partnership, working one-on-one with advisors to build model portfolios tailored to their clients' goals.
A Bay Area native, James first joined Main as an intern from July 2020 to September 2021 while completing his undergraduate degree at Santa Clara University. He graduated summa cum laude in 2022 with a BS in Economics and received the Charles and Barbara Hazel Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Economics, given each year to just two graduating seniors in the entire Economics department.
